Just checked my status and it appears I've been a memeber here for 2 years! However, i'm still not rich so I must be doing something wrong and I've a sneaking suspicion it's link building and site promotion.

I've just finished building an amazing looking mini site (if i do say so myself). It looks amazing and is decently SEO'd up but is useless if no one is going to visit it.

I've never done an official launch of a mini site and am looking for tips on maximising my efforts and getting my site popular and up the rankings.

Anyone have a successful formula?

You could write a 500 word article for ezinearticles.com. Think it has quite a high PR and you can get a backlink from your article. Got one of my affiliate sites ranked quite quickly once the article was approved.

Thanks for getting back. I'm sure I read something recently regarding article sites not being effective anymore!? Can anyone confirm/deny?

I've just checked Google Webmaster Tools as i added the site there yesterday. The sitemap I submitted has 17 pages, of which 0 have been indexed. WFT?

Have you submitted your site with Google as well using the proper submission method? It could take a couple of weeks before your site gets indexed.

I use to spam the gumtree website and my sites got listed within a few days but that doesn't work anymore. If anyone has any quick ways of getting a site indexed, I wouldn't mind knowing.

Squidoo is looked upon by Google as a valid source and you can build a lense (article) and link to your site, however for it to get noticed you have to build a full lense and doing that is not easy, takes ages and tons of content.

Have a look at Squidoo

If you manage to build a full lense, PM me so I can have a look at it thanks

Thanks, I might look into that. I just regged a domain which I'm going to use for a long term project so I might gradually develop my own lens to help the site rank better.

Have fun, I done 2 lenses, 1 which has hardly anything in it so a waste of time doing it

The other I'm still doing ;)

Hey Doodlebug,

How do you link out from Squidoo? Had a look and it didn't seem you could out from lenses. Am I being dense?

Mike.

I've done a few lenses in the past. Found the whole squidoo thing a bit complex. I seem to remember you can list your favourite sites. In the main article just add the code Example - seems to work for me. None of my lenses seem to get any visitors but hopefully good for the old SEs

All depends how you use the article sites. You want to aim to get backlinks not from just ezine itself but also from the many republishers of your content that use your author signature correctly.

So, if you have a page on blue china tea set then don't bother writing an ezine article on that. Firstly, it isn't going to be easy and second hardly anyone is going to republish such an article.

So, write articles in the categories that are popular (such as health, fitness, finance).

Just written a juicy 551 word article on falling off motorbikes. Signed up to 4 of the big article companies and found a few motorbike directories i can publish the article to.

Is that enough?

Depends on a few factors, including competition and quality of the article.

If submitting to more than one article directory, it may help if you spin the article so it's at least 50% different from the original article.

Submitting one unique, high quality article to a high authority site, is better than duplicate articles to multiple directories.
