You may have heard professor Hawkings as been rushed to hospital and his apparently in a bad way : at 67 years old and one of the lonest living sufferers of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, it's no suprise Yahoo story
I'm no quantam mechanic myself but he is inspirational
Started off his life studying science, became ill and still carried on, and he's a bit of a dirty dog lol, the guy who created Hawkings first computer, well Hawkings married his missus

2009 could well take him ?

I started this thread so Acorners can post their well wishes and no doubt a couple of Hawkings jokes along the way :roll:

I went to a wedding he was at a few months ago, just a clever bloke in a wheelchair really.

He declined my offer to go to my local to play pool after the ceremony.

If he does pass on then it will be a genuine shame, but as he is losing the last ability to communicate anyway, I'm glad he will be out of his pain.

He's contributed a lot to the world of science and done Britain proud, Jade Goody as done not much

He uses a blink switch. But although his computer's interface is efficient (I've seen videos of it online!) it's still very slow to use. Link here.

He uses Knuth's TeX to write his papers, how cool is that

My point is, I cant see what all the fuss is about.

The fuss is about an exceptionally smart man who has done incredible things despite the Herculean challenges he faces.

I still haven't managed to make it through 'A Brief History of Time', will have to try again

Here's hoping he recovers.

I guess it's just a type of speaker
What ever he types into his computer it comes out through his mouth, he could speak up until 1985 when he caught pnumonia and had a tracheotomy

was he ever knighted for his dedication?,i know if i spent my whole life studying a particular subject i would like some reward,you get knighted nowadays for the most stupid things,beckham got knighted for kicking a bag of wind around and he still can't tie is own shoelaces....

^^^ Yes, he has some award, can't remember if it was MBE, CBE or OBE, though.

i should think you are ill,all that running around naked doesn't do you much good,you should do advertising on yourself,because all the cameras pick up streakers,anyway get well soon,if i tried it i think either my knees or back would give up before i passed the security.
