Switching to Adsense ?

I've got a couple of quality niche content sites. Driving traffic to affiliate sites. Revenues are okay but nothing special.

I've always shied away from adsense because I feel that often they are a good indicator of a bad site (i.e. low-content link-fests). However, I'm thinking maybe it's worth experimenting with them on a site or two...

Has anyone here added adsense to an affiliate site and if so was there a noticable drop in affiliate traffic (i.e. lost to google?), did the adsense revenue make up for or exceed this, and did you lose traffic or SERPS as a result of having the adsense on?

Thanks,
WR

I just trialled a campaign on a newish site (a very competitive motoring niche) and am still waiting to analyse the results. The issue I found was setting up the campaign so it didn't bleed cash needlessly, if you know someone who has experience in setting up campaigns then deffo get their advice. I wish I new of someone....

Are we talking about Adsense or Adwords here?

If adding to your site, I figure you are talking about Adsense. I think the mix of affiliate links and Adsense can work OK. See: http://www.fashionstyleyou.co.uk - I have no idea on the revenues of that site, although I believe it is rather successful.

Depends on what stage of the buying process you visitors are at.
If you think you can drop the last cookie (and the merchant site doesn't leak to phone calls or whatever) then go for affliate link. If the site / page is more general and people are likely to be in early research stage then Adsense might be best.

There are of course alternatives to Adsense but that's another story.

hmm - good point. Thanks. I think I'll try some subtle(ish) ones in a non-prominent location (like the fashion link above) and see how it goes.

Cheers all,

WR

I can't remember whether it is USD or GBP but I think the minimum "cash out" from Adsense is 100 ?
