The illegal Chinese .CN domains

Hi All

Just had to let everyone know about the .cn registry and their approach to domains they term "illegal"

Eurodns have a promotion running whereby you can buy a .cn for 1 Euro...I snapped up 7 two of which wouldn't resolve

olympicmedal.cn
olympicgold.cn


I could see that it was the Root Servers not announing them so I realised it was a Registry issue.


I contacted support and they replied as follows ............

here can you find the whois of the registry.

http://www.cnnic.net.cn/en/index/0L/index.htm

No in the rules of the registry you can read that they can cancel every
domainname without an explanation.

luckily www.olympichotels.cn got through!

The Olympic Committee is one of those entities that protect heavily their TM. I think that you should not be that happy that the other domain went through registering.
They are really severe, and there are some cases where they charged heavily people for using their logo andname.

Just google it.
