The Stig confirmed?

I think he should have stayed quiet, he was probably well paid, and knew the idea was best as a secret.

Top Gear should get him on as a guest, let him do a lap, and then, show a new stig, beating his time by a mile!

Or alternatively, go back to dozens of guests and record them saying he had severe odour problems, make him a proper stig :p

It was mentioned on BBC news. Sod the www, listen to the wireless.

LOL tell a PhilipP it is 186 000 miles to the moon, he believes you.
Tell him that paint is wet or a surface is hot, he has to touch it ...

Was, down the job centre I feel. Wonder what the next one will be like, there will be a twist to it.

There won't be a next one, the BBC have said they are scrapping the character and it's probably to kill off the buzz so Ben won't cash in has much has he could have done if they kept the character.

I reckon he has had a good amount of cash from the BBC and now wants to earn lots more with his auto-biography plus being the stig will look very good on his CV, he is stuntman aswell as the stig.

He lives near me somewhere so I am hoping he will do book signings near by, if he does I will get 4 signed copies and sell them on Ebay  and yes I know he is a Yank but he lives over here.

It was probably a mistake by the the radio presenter (that's what we call the wireless nowadays), or you may have misheard. Officially the BBC still isn't confirming or denying it ;)

They don't need to confirm it, he was filmed walking out of the high court.

i think it strange they (stigs) want to go public - i dont really see why anyone would be interested in reading a book about the stig?? :) ok hes one of the most popular characters on TV but its because of his anonymity, i dont want to know where he holidays or what ex big brother star he met in a nightclub.
I'm sure he'd be better off taking the beebs money for another 5 years - even when not filming they must pay him a retainer and something to keep stum.

Charlie, the book's not about the Stig, it's about Ben Collins, he was the Stig, an American race car driver, a stuntman and James bonds' body double in a Bond film plus other things.

Tip* don't punch your laptop when it freezes, you will end up with a sunken keyboard resulting in you having to hit the space bar hard for it to work as I am no finding out :(

ex-SAS too from all accounts.

To be honest, I suspect he was thinking of leaving anyway, thus why it's OK for him to 'out' himself. He'd know the book and/or a Court case would have put paid to his Stig career, so he had nothing to lose.

NEVER HEARD OF HIM ;) why would i wanna read about him?

You never heard of him because he was a secret ;-)

He sounds quite interesting to me, done some unusual stuff, I won't read it though, I tend not to read books.
