Thoughts on a hyper-local property platform?

I’m looking for some honest feedback on a domain + platform concept.

The idea is to build a property-focused regional platform using a strong, category-style domain (think along the lines of “[Region]Property.com”).

The direction isn’t just a directory. It would combine:

  • local property news and insights
  • featured homes and projects
  • business spotlights (trades, agents, suppliers, etc.)
  • a curated directory layer
The goal is to capture people at the research and inspiration stage, not just when they’re searching for a specific service.

From a domain investor / builder perspective, I’m interested in:

  • Does a domain like “[Region]Property.com” have real potential as a category-defining asset, or is it too generic?
  • Is there still value in building a content-led platform like this in the current AI/search landscape?
  • Do you see this working better as a media-style brand, or does it risk being stuck between “directory” and “publication”?
  • Any examples you’ve seen that have executed something similar successfully?
Appreciate any feedback, especially from people who’ve built and scaled sites around geo domains.
