I wondered if today's IT graduates have a grasp on the Internet/domains/marketing as whole in the same way old farts like me who started in late nineties. I feel the current software tools and development environments are far superior in most ways. Starting earlier doesn't mean one is better either. So does any of it matter.. do they care..

your thoughts.

Old timers:

1) Often good knowledge of fundamentals.
2) Reluctance to move to new tools.

Young guns:

1) Skipped the fundamentals.
2) Reliance on new tools.

So the old guys might know how to do a bitshift operation but don't know how to use Wordpress whilst the "youth" know the latest labour saving way of doing things but are a little shakey on the basic math.

The degree part is irrelevant.

If you're interested, you'll learn. If not, you won't.

I don't think college level is worth a squirt of gnat piss. I return to college each time they advance a Level of my existing C&G quals just to keep current, and for example level 3 C&G website design (as of 20 or so months ago) STILL includes the use of tables for layout, WTF.

I don't know about uni level, but my experience is the best coders, designers and developers are mostly self taught and only later seek the qualification.
