I guess he is just moving to stephenfry.uk he has the ,co.uk

7 and a half hours to register any free to reg domains on your lists

[BT] Sorry, the website stephenfry.uk cannot be found.

Fingers crossed that it works once the pre-requisite Nominet implementation actually takes place in a few hours, and the relevant replication cascades complete, later today ...

Does it actually say what the domain he is moving to is in that article? if so I can't see it.

stephenfry.com is regged to Samfry Ltd, as is stephenfry.co.uk, so I would assume stephenfry.uk, but you're right, it doesn't actually say.

You would have thought since that was what the story was about they could of popped it in there somewhere.

I also wrongly assumed reading it they might have especially granted Stephen a working .UK ahead of general availability but as David says above they don't resolve and stephenfry.uk currently isn't an existing domain

Also I just noticed google chrome doesn't treat domain.uk (without the www.) as a domain atm, it performs a search instead.

www.welcometothe.co.uk better convert to welcometothe.uk at 8am as well :)

.uk domain names are available for the first time ever after Nominet announced the launch with the world’s largest welcome sign unveiled at London’s Heathrow Airport and Stephen Fry has become the first person to launch a site with the suffix.

The ‘welcometothe.uk’ sign measures in almost 10,000sq ft, can reportedly be seen from 65,000ft away and is 40 per cent larger than the Holywood sign with 20 men taking eight hours just to unravel it.

Their system seems to be lagging reality a bit - registered memorabledomains.uk 4 minutes ago but it's not showing as registered in the Whois.

Oh well, guess I can afford to wait a bit longer given all the practice I've had over the last year and a half...

Not quite understanding the rush to get .uk's... Haven't we got 5 years? There aren't going to be any decent hand regs where .co.uk isn't owned surely??
