After a bit of help...

Having difficulty seeing the acorndomains (and domainprices) website(s). The problem is only when I'm at home. Other people on the same ISP as me can see the websites, but I cannot for some reason - it just gives the usual 404 error saying it cannot be found. I've got an adsl router and I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2. I've cleared cache/history etc but to no avail... Not sure if its of any use, but I think the problem stems back a few months when there was some sort of issue with the Paypal donation button (certificate was out of date?).

...help!!!

thanks,
wazzer.

Put your glasses on and leave the bottle alone, seek advice at AA.

Have you checked all of your internet options?

1)
If not in Internet Explorer click:

TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > SECURITY

TRUSTED SITES

Add 'http://www.acorndomains.co.uk' to trusted sites

Make sure 'http://www.acorndomains.co.uk' isn't in RESTRICTED SITES.

If you are ever having problems with certificates you can follow the same route but instead of security click CONTENT > CERTIFICATES to see what ones you currently have installed.

2)

You could also try:

RIGHT CLICK ORIGINAL INTERNET EXPLORER ICON ON THE DESKTOP (Not a shortcut to Internet Explorer)

> START WITHOUT ADD-ONS

This will disable all toolbars / active-x controls / codecs etc etc to see if you have something in there that is preventing access.

If this is the case click:

TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > PROGRAMS > MANAGE ADD-ONS

and then go through and disable one, try the site, disable another, try the site etc...

3)

As a last resort you could reset all IE settings back to default. To do this click:

TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > ADVANCED > RESET

All the above is done in IE7 - Not much has changed but there may be some slight differences...

A few things to rule out, hope this helps! :D

for the last couple of days, I've been having the "acorndomains page doesn't fully load" problem.

the circles and eggtimers keep running on the page.

I think admin must've done some changes to irritate the bollox out of us until we donate.

yesterday

When you can't see the site do a traceroute:

Start > Run > CMD

tracert 85.92.71.241

You should be able to see where its dropping out then.

No I haven't changed anything.

PM me your IP address (or IP range if it is dynamic) and I will check the server logs for any issues.

I think you can flush your DNS?? system by running a command...... I'll try and remember where i saw this problem before!

I get this problem atleast once a week, and have done now for a month or so, I just re-boot my router and I am then able to see acorndomains again.

Restarting my pc doesnt solve the problem, only re-booting the router.

Anyone on Virgin Media (NTL) I sometimes get this problem on this isp and not on the other ones I use else where.

I think it has something to do with the edge router going in to London but could be wrong.

The command "PathPing" can also show this up look for 100% failure.

thanks for all the replies, I will try everything later on tonight when I get home.

I know the cmd for flushing the DNS from the command prompt is: ipconfig /flushdns
