Hello,

This is my first post, I will get around to posting an introduction in the next week or so! But, for now, I have a question.

I've had my eye on a 3 word .co.uk domain name, it's Google Keyword Tool stats are:

Broad - 18000
Exact - 2500
Phrase - 2500

Not too shabby, and the global stats are the same as the local ones, I will explain why after I've registered it! If I do!

I know I've not given much information, but based on those stats would/could/should it be worth me paying the reg fee? I know who I'd try selling it to straight away.

Any advise would be great! I'm hoping you guys and gals may be able to guide me through my first domain sale in the coming weeks.

Regards,
Payne

Welcome to the forum.

Impossible to say purely from that information.

Three words is perfectly acceptable, it just depends how accurate and valuable those searches are. Things to consider include whether people searching for a product, service or information? Is it something which can be monetised in one form or another (by either you or an end user)? Is it a defining term or a little too niche? The list goes on...

If you want to PM the keywords to me for an opinion, I won't register it.

I personally don't work to stats. And everyone understands why Global and Local can match.

You say your looking to sell this particular domain on straight away - to one particular buyer. That scares me.

You do understand Trade Marks and its implications (if applicable)

And as WB has offered PM me for a third opinion

Have PM'd, cheers!

Yeah the trademark thing is something I would be looking into, one of the reasons why I haven't just snapped it up too, but thanks for bringing that up. Thanks for the PM offer too!

1. Surely it would have been better to just ask rather than say hey I'll say hello next week or so.

2. Saying its not too shabby leads people to think you know more than your saying.

3. If you know who you would sell it to and your not prepared to pay reg fee for it. Your risk reward ratio is way too low. And your probably always going to fail at what you do.

4. Are you sure you haven't been here before?

5. What usually happens here is a few people who post happy posts say yeah you should reg it.

6. Then a few days later another post appears saying man that buyer didn't want it and it appears for sale.

7. You may well just sell it. So come on and don't act the goat. Far too many people on here already doing that.

Register the domain. Try and sell it. If it sells great try and replicate it. If it doesn't take it on the chin and use it as a very cheap lesson.

At worst if your Adsense account isn't banned put a free blog on it and try and make the £0.30p a month the domain cost you.

If you can't make £0.30p back a month then better spend your time in the flower arranging forums.

And as its a lucky number.

8. When doing the tongue twister red lorry, yellow lorry. Imagine you can see the red lorry and then the yellow lorry and things don't get as muddled.

Me now walking off with my right arm and right foot in the air then switching to the left like morcambe and wise :p

Sent you a PM back.

I personally don't work to stats.

Having seen a few of your domains in various WHOIS lookups, I remember seeing you for mostly the clever 'play on word' type (i.e. the proper 'brandables' which companies are actually likely to buy). Can't remember examples off the top of my head, but as you know the keyword tool is only ever going to be useful for product/service/information keyword research.

You say your looking to sell this particular domain on straight away - to one particular buyer. That scares me.

It will scare you, and you will see why if you receive the PM too. :D

OK, nothing wrong in being upright and honest - sounds to me like you understand the cautionary approach. And thats a good start to domaining - No matter how tempting the domain

WB will steer you right

Cheers and thanks for that acknowledgement. On the upside I don't mind being in a class of One. so long as I can get to play with all the others at break-time. :p

Hi Caz,

Cheers for the reply. Nope I'm completely new, I have about 4 domains, 3 of which I'm using for personal projects.

In reply to your post:

1. I consider it quite rude that I'm asking for advice without even posting an introduction on the forum, so I just wanted to point out that I would be doing so!

2. I like looking at domains for sale or that are dropping and the keyword traffic stats for them, so the "not too shabby" quote was more than anything dialogue to myself.

3. I do know who I'd try selling it too, but as has been mentioned in the other replies there is more than likely a trademark issue with it, so I don't think I'll be bothering anyway. It was an interesting one though, and might have got some type-in traffic, which was what my post was going to be about but I went off on a tangent a bit. :p

4. I have been here before, but only looking around at the advice, this is my first and only profile/membership.

5/6/7. I would potentially list domains for sale on here if I felt they had any value to the users here, or to show them I had an auction running, or whatever. I wouldn't think experienced domainers could be fooled by me beating around the bush about it. I am interested in aquiring some decent domains and selling them on, mainly to fund my personal projects, but I won't be trying it until I know more about how it all works. Like I say I am yet to even sell my first domain, and this won't be it!

8. Thank you for the advice! :p

Haha great reply.

Been filling party bags for the last two hours so gone a little mad.

Have to say though. The level of help you get on this forum has to be second to none. One thread started yesterday deserves a slot on tv. The advice given was amazing.

Haha no worries!

Oh and between me and you, I'm holding off on my intro for a bit until I get a decent domain to state as my 'best'. ;)
