Hi,

doing some research im wondering if you can spare 30 seconds to help me out. (u will benefit soon) :p

All things being equal, generally what is the optimium length for a UK domain name.

This is difficult as abc/co.uk (3chr) is good but not as good as loans/co.uk (5chr) which might be equal to property/co.uk (8char)

these are extreme examples as they all good names, so if possible try to think more 'real world'

poll

unscientific...

hi julian,
i think your poll is very badly structured.probably also aimed at the wrong audience.generally shorter names are of more value as they can be acronyms u don't need a poll to discover that just look at past sales.secondly everyone is inclined on this forum to state as most valuable the type of domains they have.bst rgds reza/poetry:)

hi,

thx for feedback - but uh I think a forum full of 100's of hardcore domainers probably is the right audience... ?

Also its obvious that in 99% of cases short domains are better (under 15char) but I need to know more precisely the lengths that domainers believe have greater intrinsic value.

Its difficult to explain.

thx

Short domains will grab the headlines in reported high value sales, but the majority of sales and highest total turnover will be in longer names. Two words around 10 characters make up the bulk of our sales.

th.

I should have run pole longer.

According to those results nearly 40% of you think a domain over 10chrs is good? I think some people not taking this seriusly
