Great tool.

It doesn't seem to show the dates for some strings?

Nominet limit

Nominet limit reached today

Consider adding some code to say "Limit of requests to Nominet exceeded, no more results as Nominet now not replying? or similar.
When people enter page and do search.

Anyway what ever you add will let the users not to bother trying to try, and figure out way bank.co.uk as such like is not registered?

Thanks Stephen I had added some quick and dirty code to do that I will have a real look on a nicer way later. It has not reached the daily limit it is just reaching the second/hourly limits. It is coded and ready for WHOIS2 so as soon as I can I will move it over.

I have also added the duplicate reg date feature and will look at the pre nom shortly

2 letter and 2 number domains

Still working on my own checker.

Will continue to update you with any extra bits you want to consider coding for, such as the following.

You may want to also look at 2 letter and 2 number uk domains
as not sure anything returned by whois 1, although on individual Nominet Whois does show details.

I need to investigate the 2 number & letter domains but all other features mentions have now been added.

Also which may be of interest I have coded and tested the bulk checker and it works great, as soon as I have WHOIS2 access I will put it online.

Right some of you may be glad to know the bulk tool is now online, currently limited to 100 at a time although in theory it would work for 1000 (Nominets Limit) but I need to monitor the server load.

Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

Takes a while to crunch the data but gives clear results, thanks for the tool

Yes I had to slow it down a little to consistently avoid the 5 lookups per client per second rule that nominet have on the whois. I will be fine tuning it so it should only get faster and when I am happy I will try and up the number of domains at a time.

Extras

Thank you.

But please request Nominet supply you with the ability:

  • provide dates for pre-nom registrations
  • the time stamp, for when registered on the same day
  • clarify about .sch.uk as you cannot check 3rd level domains

You want to change height of "single string entry box" as it is too small and the user losers the top of the letters.

I'm glad to see you have the .co.uk and .org.uk versions, but that is directing to a not as up to date website as the .com.

Are you using .com as a protest or are your going to use .co.uk as main website?

Thanks Stephen, I am not sure how/if Nominet can provide this though the WHOIS tool, do you have access to the info? Who is best at Nominet to contact about this info?

The .org.uk and .co.uk should update shortly. It was not a protest, more I thought it sounded a bit confusing as dotukwinner.co.uk

As it is do with the V2.0 .uk proposal I would I would start with an email to the policy unit at Nominet who are responsible for .uk :
