Maybe worth including a bit of info with the proof to DNJ, as now an then they run articles based on such sales, which will get you some PR. Least this is how some of them appear to me when I read them

I thought this would create more comment from members.
The fact that it hasn't has galvanised my suspicions that there are more bears than bulls on this site and that it's more important to push sales prices low so that it is a buyers market.

This sale shows that vision and common sense can match up buyer and seller and both can be winners.

I thought matters would be the going forward domain choice but umbrella is a great investment.

A domain name is still the most important part of an online business.
And genuine prestige can be invaluable.

For me it's a fantastic domain, perfect for an insurance company, could have gone a lot higher than what you paid and is of course not a cost but an investment.
Even the holding page you have put up ... priceless, when a name portrays a message and is used correctly it's a joy to witness.

In the context of this thread it's an end user buy at an end user price. So it's interesting but unnoteworthy as a consequence.

I agree with the last sentence. I seen the thread originally and couldn't be bothered replying as it was completely unremarkable to me. A domain I didn't want to buy, in a niche I have no interest in, selling for what (at first glance anyway) seems like a fair price.

Websaway if I wasn't using for my current business I think it would make a good travel website. Maybe one for umbrella.uk

Also agree re insurance as it symbolising protection.

I agree with Julian on price potential.

If a large insurer is sold on it the price could be anything.

When they are spending large amounts on an add campaign
something more to add impact is priceless.

Umbrella and unexpected events are synonymous.

I wonder if the potential for people to spell it wrongly would harm its value. If I was looking to buy it I'd probably be wanting to do a quick poll of a few hundred people in my target demographic and see how they get on with that first.

I wouldn't expect any problems if you're using it for an umbrella payroll company... but if you were expecting 17 year olds trying to insure a Corsa to get it right it might be another game altogether.

I get a lot of support email from young/poorly educated people and the content of them is horrendous at times.

Having read loads of support tickets from stupid people, I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see a load of variations with Unb or umbralla etc mixed in there also....

If any of those typos are registered to different people already it could be a nightmare to consolidate them.

You can't legislate for all eventualities , I would only take the one typo seriously.

If a major brand like a real insurer wanted to build an "Elephant" type site on it, they'd perhaps have no choice but to take other typos seriously - they'd end up leaking 10,000's of visitors a month I reckon.
