We have a site which is getting some very strange trafiic... with most orgainc traffic coming from Ecuador!

Referriing keywords

banco bolivariano ecuador 38 visitros
banco pichincha 12 visitors
banco de guayaquil ecuador 11 visitors
pichincha 7 visitors
banco guayaquil 6 visitors

The site is a .co.uk domain with unique content and a wordpress blog.

Content and domain name are completley unrelated to the above referring keywords.

Domain previously on Sedo.

The site also has a dedicated IP address.

Any ideas?

Really baffled.

Cheers,

Ben.

If it is the V--E----- site then it seems to be because you have a mixture of a couple of the keywords on the page, and a few from inbound links.

Have a look in webmaster tools and you should be able to see the links

The site isn't visitecudaor.co.uk it's not even realted, the site is on a uk town...

Have looked at Google cache and homepage is fine.

Also the domain isn't ranking, however a random section is ranking with no links to it.

Still confused...

Sounds like fake hits/keywords and fake URLs in your log, probably created by one of those fake traffic/spam wotsits...

Not an expert though, so could be wrong! ;)

Could be a typo of a common site/place/program etc in that country. I get the same with one of mine (mixt), 130 average per day from South Africa. Only after doing some digging did I find that it can be a typo of a program used over there.

This. I had an old site which for some reason was showing as having a load of gold-related keywords. After checking webmaster tools I realised that it was because spammers had been attacking an old photo gallery script I'd forgotten about.
