Unless you know of a Country that uses the term for the .com. Then I agree, no value.
As a small rider to your "completeness" stratergy - I too used to make this mistake of thinking the .com & UK pairing was a worthwhile investment, As a general rule it isin't if your intention is domain sales (different if it's a full-blown development) The same goes for the Plural-Singular pairing.
An old domain hand explained the logic to me many years ago - and I was very against his thinking until I decided to let quite a few (second pair) domains drop. Then the 'proverbial' penny dropped. Obviously key words are a slightly different matter. But, if both the .com and .co.uk (or singular/plural) are available to hand register - there's a bloody good reason.
