Hi,

I have an Url that redirects to a different Url. The first 'redirected from' Url shows up in the Url History List (UHL) just fine. But I would like the second 'redirected to' Url (the destination Url) to show in the UHL too.

I understand that the UHL contains only typed Url's, i.e. that a user has manually typed in. But is there any way, I wonder, to get the 'redirected to' Url (that they didn't actually type in, but were redirected to) to show up in the UHL as well?

Any help you can offer me would be greatly appreciated... and i'm happy to pay :)

Cheers,

im not sure thats possible...

I did a similar thing where it would switch URL's but when they bookmarked the page it saved the original URL

i'll have a play and see what i can come up with for you

Basically you want something to add an element to the history object's stack, however like the other poster mentioned, I don't think its possible.

A web browsers history object (read: the browser history) is very limited in terms of how it can be manipulated. As far as I know the history object can be read but not written to.

There is a very sensible reason for this, if there was a malicious website that could inject false history records into your browser, someone who is innocently looking for that search engine or auction they used last week could end up being pointed to a site which potentially is a spoof / phishing site etc.

I can understand how annoying this possibly is for you (company rebranding springs to mind as a reason for wanting something to do this).

The example FreetimersInter mentioned would be retrieving the previous url either by reading the browser history or the HTTP request and then making use of that data in a bookmarking script. Unfortunately bookmarks and history arn't the same :???: .

I would loved to be proved wrong (gold mine of a script), but i'm not sure your going to get a solution to this.

i agree with etro ..

Ive tried everything and i cant do what your trying to achieve

Sorry :(

I'll keep playing but im afraid it doesnt look like its do-able

Thank very much guys, I appreciate the help and will let you know if I find something!

All the best,
