USB Charging options

The wife has just decided to invest in bluetooth wireless headsets for all the family (5 of us), and that has now pushed me over the edge. I am sick of chargers being 'hot bedded', and not being able to find a spare charger as 'that one must power my phone Dad, so I can watch Stampy and Dandtm's latest videos'. Sometimes I can find a cable (YES!) but not the adapter...., and vice versa. Sometimes I'm relegated to using the USB ports on the computer, to act as a slow charge.

So, how do you do it? I'm after ideas and inspiration. To give you a rough idea, around me now as I type are 13 items on charge, each using a lead, adapter and plug socket (all are android using same adapter). There are more in other rooms, and other items not on charge. Bear in mind it is 10pm, so all items are on for their nightly charge, come 7am most will be unplugged.

I have seen some USB hubs, not the PC ones, but ones powered by a mains adapter. Anyone use them? Any good when all USB ports are used and charging?

Before anyone says it, I have looked at the USB twin switched outlets, and I'm not impressed. At least not the ones in the sub £25 category.

So any ideas?

PS I would love an EMP or a surge to blast them all to Kingdom Come, but the wife would be down the shops the very next day getting replacements so thats out the window. Same with the big hammer.

We have some wall plates which have 4 usb ports, so 2 mains plugs, and 2-4 usb ports, they were like £60 for 4 in an amazon lightening deal. They are 2.1 so charge ipads and stuff.

I also have a mains conditioner extension (4 gang) with surge protector which has a network port, 2 usb ports and 4 5pin pubs all surge protected and mains conditioned, which were £99.

I also think it were Invincible who had pop up plugs in his kitchen which had USB ports on, I'm more convinced he has a butler carry a car battery to charge his many ipads and iphones and stuff in any room, but I'm sure his pop up plugs had usb on them.

Seen this?
Not that exact one, but I like it more than ones I've looked at on eBay. 4 of them and I'll get back most of the plug sockets in the house :)

Do you have one? Any good?

Ha, actually I just ordered one prompted by your post! That and the fact I am going to the states next month and this works there, UK and where i live on the continent, sounds useful.

Another option... get rid of the kids?

Yeah like that one :) However they are my excuse for having to visit most Theme Parks, fast food restaurants, pizza night, newest tech and loads more. If I want something, make the kids feel they need it, then pester the wife until she gives in

I've been looking at these chargers for a while, and most of the ones I have seen look to be either lethal if they get wet / knocked / damaged, or charge most things at 1A or below. But I do like that one, will order one and see what the build is like before getting more :)

I have one like that just a cheap 4 port one, I paid like £5 on ebay, this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Ports-U...799616?hash=item3ce4458740:g:nIgAAOSw-dBTvQHR, it doesn't go up to full 2.4 ipad rating, 2.1 so still quite fast.

It lights up blue which can be annoying if its in a dark room.

The pins are removable so you can put US/UK/EU pins on it, so its quite flexible. I carry it in my bad when I travel. Its been quite good so far, but gets warm not sure I'd want to keep it plugged in 24/7, if you remember to switch it off on the wall prob sound.
