Hi All,

I can see there is a wealth of knowledge out there and the different takes on each thread can be quite entertaining too.

Would anyone care to share their knowledge, and perhaps entertain us all as well, with comments on the value of these domains?

I guess a credit crunch survival guide type site would be way to go with these (is that stating the obvious?). Personally, I wouldn't bother developing them because sooner or later the credit crunch will be over. I'd prefer to put that time and effort in to building a site which will last the test of time.

Value of domains at the moment? Reg fee imo.

Better luck next time ;)

Kind Regards,
Rob

Thanks for feedback ... what do you make of this ...

Thanks for the feedback Rob,

I was indeed considering the website idea you mentioned but I don't have enough time at the moment. I also take on board your comments about the 'clock ticking' on this idea. However, I do think this current financial situation will run for a good while yet.

I was also interested in hearing opinions about value because I had the .com of this domain valued by Sedo. (I'm not challenging your assessment here, your points are all valid, I'm just throwing this into the mix.) Sedo came back with 'approx £425'.

So now I'm really intrigued. Does this say more about Sedo than it does about my domain name?

Any views, anyone?

Have a play on Google Trends - Google Insights for Search

...and compare UK vs USA

When I was researching this topic last year, "Credit Crunch " was used much more in the UK than the US, and the trend was downwards. "Recession" was becoming a more popular search word in both the UK and US

So, while the problem may last a while, the words people search for may be changing

HTH

Cheers, Jon

encouraging

Thanks Joned,

Very interesting ... and encouraging, as I also have

recessionforum.co.uk
and
repossessionforum.co.uk

I'm waiting for a reply to a PM on those two.

Curious

Thanks for the succinct feedback Firestars.

I'm curious though, what do you make of the Sedo appraisal?
(Or anyone else.)

Why faff around when I can give you an answer in 2 words?

Ignore the Sedo valuation. The domain is worth what you would be prepared to sell it for and what someone would be prepared to pay for it.

You will get a feel for a domains value as you immerse yourself in the domain world over time.

it's in sedo's interest to say a domain is worth ten times what it is actually worth,if you pay so much to sedo for a valuation and they say it's worth the reg fee, then people will ask for there money back wouldn't they.
