Hi i'm wanting to get an online forum up and have a few questions.

Where is the best/cheapest place I can register the domain name

Where is the best place for hosting, and what should I expect to pay to get me started? would it be better to have a host in the UK, Or does it not matter?

I'm looking into vBulletin, I've done some research and the one to go for is an owned licenses right?

Would I be better of buying directly or finding a used license for sale,

For UK Domains I recommend Heart Internet

For hosting you will want a UK host and a UK ip. I have a dedi with UK2 but if your on a starting budget then maybe Krystal

As for forum software, vB is good, but it might be worth checking out IPB - I use vB on a lot of sites but just recently tried IPB and I really like it. If switching databases was easy I would move the others to IPB

Mine are with Godaddy, I don't have any problems with them

I've used both IPB and vB. Both are good - personally, I think vB (which I use currently) has now got the edge and is probably easier to customise?

Its about cars, just a lil project something to kill time with as well

But one thing i wanted to find out was about copyright laws

Would I be breaking any copy right laws if I for eg I went and registered the domain name ''EighthGenHonda.com'' and started my own community when there is already an up and running ''8thgenhonda.com'' community

Under trade mark law they could take that domain from you any time they wanted - perhaps even charging for any damages.

Whether they would or not is a different matter.

Basic rule is to not reg any domain with a TM in it

I'm looking into vBulletin

If you do go for vBulletin, then vbseo is a worthwhile purchase (well .... it was a few years ago .... haven't got a forum anymore).
