For an established member I would do as a favour no probs but for someone who might not even stick around then no.

I know you're not trying to sell it it's just they are crap for SEO and cost considerbly more than a .co.uk

Hi

Thanks guys for the info etc. I made an offer as advised and just had a counter offer of £500. Seems a little steep? or is that the norm, CarCandy was just one of a number of names. How do I value the name?

The answer is "How much do you want it?"

CarCandy.co.uk is a "brandable" domain in that it doesn't mean much by itself. As such, it's worth whatever someone (i.e. you) is prepared to pay for it.

If you think that's the perfect brand for your business, then 500 pounds doesn't sound like such a crazy price. You'd pay a lot more to get a decent generic domain, that's for sure.

If on the other hand you have alternatives that you like (especially alternatives that you could register for free) then it starts to look like not such a good deal.

Perhaps you could give some examples of high-ranking .pro names, rather than getting into squabbles. That way we may all learn something.

Just a thought..

I'm with you Steve, can we see just 1 example of a high ranking .pro ?

Shouldn't be to hard given that they're easy to rank ;)

Yes, it will be very interesting to see what Zurat comes up with.

Theoretical arguments are just that without weight of evidence...
