So really this is just a domain sale? - the forum is empty and no custom skin and little development? or am I missing something (apologies if I am)

Thanks

Thank you for your reply. One could argue about that. As it is developed I decided to post it here. But I can understand your point of view. The concept consists of two domains:

webmasterforum.co.uk
webmastermagazine.co.uk

and the forum you see on webmasterforum.co.uk. Since the vbulletin licence is also included and the vbseo license I felt it best fitted here.

KR,

Merien

Fair enough - was just checking to be clear.

Nice domain - good luck with sale!

Hi,

Can you please tell me why this is worth around £18k?

It appears to have only 8 members and seems to be a relatively new forum.
Is your valuation mainly on the domain?

I do think it's the best name possible for a UK webmaster forum, but without a community already in place, it's quite a daunting task for any potential buyer. If there was a community and methods of monetising it, then the sky's the limit, but as a name alone, I don't see why it would differ from other forum sales. Maybe low £x,xxx, mid if the right person came along?

webmastermagazine.co.uk has a lot of potential I think. Especially now that people are getting used to ereaders and the like. An online mag of this kind, I could see working.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. The asking price is mainly based on the domains. I think Webmasterforum.co.uk together with webmastermagazine.co.uk is a very strong combination. I do realize my asking price is on the high end. But if you look closely at the UK market a webmaster forum on the right domain has great potential in my opinion. Especially together with a physical "webmaster magazine". As for monetization, think about the value a developed forum would have to an affiliate network, domain marketplace, hosting provider etc so plenty of options there besides Adwords.

Besides that; I also leave some room for negotiation ;)

Developed and monetized it may be worth a few thou, but for potential alone, with all the hard work involved, I don't think so

However i do think it's a good name - if there's really a gap in the market for another web master forum

You might be right in terms of development. I might need to put some effort in it myself first.

Its a great domain and a lot of potential, but your not going to get anything near that figure on here. Enduser is a maybe.

If I had it, I would pay forum posters, get it up on google, get some actual numbers, activity and stats and then sell it with the hugely added value :)

Good luck!

Fish - I outsourced to some indians I found on scriptlance the last time I did it. It was an easy topic (runescape cheating and general discussion) and their English was far better than the users I actually ended up with. Was a nice site and a good sale!

Thanks; good tips! Given the comments above I started to do some linkbuilding and I am looking for posters. Also I decided to lower the asking price and created an example for webmaster magazine to be able to provide a better picture to potential buyers of what is possible.
