My OH is contemplating branching out and needs a modern site initially for advertising purposes with a view to scale it in the future.

There is zip budget, so any thoughts on free modern templates/concepts i'd appreciate it...

Theme for the site patisserie and teaching..

If you have a business address you could use Google Places.

Otherwise a Facebook page could work.

Another alternative would be a Wordpress.com-hosted blog site with an add-on domain.

Keeps things cheap and cheerful ($12/year + domain reg fee) while slowly building up a distinct "brand" (rather than just branding Facebook or Google)

I don't want to move around, i've got hosting with heart to help centralise the site and any future development. it's just the site template i'm interested in..

I'm thinking 12months we'll have City and Giulds status and be using the site as a VLE/ecommerce portal. She already has a brand and is well known worldwide...

So whats the problem with spending some money out of interest? I have lots of potential clients who'd love me to build sites for them but don't want to pay anything.

You could always have a look at http://www.freecsstemplates.org/ and see if theres anything there that might help you.

I'm spending shed loads on an extension for workshop/industrial kitchen at the house and that is already way over budget... I would develop it myself but time is tight..
