Hi,

as a relative newcomer to this, just wondered what my chances were on getting names that I book through dropcatcher.co.uk? I've booked three names that mature over the next few weeks, and I just wondered what you thought my chances were?

Given that I've paid just over £100 in dropcatcher fees, I guess I'd be happy if I get one out of three.

Happy to update on the success or otherwise as each name drops, just for your info.

btw, all three are 'real words' with length 5, 7 and 9 characters (no hyphens or numbers).

Thanks

It all depends on the quality of the name. It its half decent, then im afraid that DC have no chance.

However, all is not lost. DC have caught me 3 names in the past 10 days, 2 of which have already paid back the £30odd cost of registering them through DC.

DC have beated me in the past, so all is not lost.

a decent little (?) system they have there, good luck with the catching :)

Do you mean that you have sold the names for more than the £30 or that you were able to so something else (by which I guess parking/adsense type thing?). Don't mean to pry, won't be offended/don't mind if you can't/won't tell, just interested.:)

Ive made the £30 back through parking.

In 10 days? Nice one, well done you. You must have a pretty good sense of which name will have traffic just arrive at them?

Spread your bets:
I have used dropcatcher to catch a few. I have also used Netserve.

I like Netserve as you only pay if they catch. No fees up front.

Also... any name that has been caught for me that I have had booked with both, Netserve have always won it.

Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to let you all know how I get on as each one drops.

It'll probably turn out that I get them, but only as I've chosen complete dogs of names, that no-one will buy!

it's also quite possible they'll never drop and will be autorenewed on the day.

Some large portfolio owners tend to do this.

Ha! Looks like you were right. The 5 letter one and the 9 letter one were both renewed and never dropped. The seven letter one is still out there, but has a couple of weeks to go yet...

Wonder if it means I loose the Dropcatcher slots, or can transfer them to another name....

Dropcatcher slots can be transfered to catch another name name.

quite possible they were 2 of mine.

Dropcatcher slote can be used for different domains, just delete the current name and readd a different one.

Great, thanks for the info.

I'll update on the 7 letter name/word when it's time is up...

Update

Haven't been able to catch a single name so far with my 3 dropcatcher slots. One went today, and was registered by some chap in Japan, of all places. So I guess I just keep looking and switching my credits to other names until dropcatcher finally gets something?

Oh well, that's a £100 lesson I've learned! :???:
