Its US based obviously but still interesting...Drugs I would of thought would do well online...small products that you already know! Clothing is very surprising, I never buy clothing online...If it doesnt fit, all the hastle of returned items!

nICE Share. As expected computer and software products are what most people buy online

I missed this post first time around, great share.

My ex-girlfriend would have clothes and shoes delivered seemingly every other day and would think nothing of returning 90% of them... definitely a girl thing in my experience, guys just can't be bothered with all that.

Not *ALL* girls! :p I just couldn't be @r$ed with all that hassle.

Great information and statistics. I find the number interesting; it sure shows what sections of business are good ones to open!

your best conversions will be selling "adult" products. The kind of things that cause embarrassment on the high street sell well online. www.manky.co.uk I aggregate the adult retailers :)

I dont see Travel there .. or have i got my blinders on ?

Travel / Hotels ... should be up there in the top 3 ...

That's an American survey though. Many Americans I've spoken to have never left their home state...;)

average stats put it at ~20% of US citizens have passports, which includes those overseas & island states.

That seems extremely low for such a developed country.

It is, but I've also seen stats that put the number of americans that leave the US borders at only 2%.

But, enough yank bashing. Just stats to show the reasons for the travel figures.

I'm not Yank-bashing, just discussing different social habits. We have the proximity of Europe and all the different nations to explore, :D they don't.

Thats interesting ... how did you get to speak to them if they never left their home State ? ... i know .. you went to their home States to talk about why they never left their home States .. best guess

Travel/Hotels is one of the top 3 searched terms on the net .. doesn't matter where you come from or where you are going even if you have never left home ...

I spoke to them virtually on internet forums, like I'm 'talking' to you now :)

Funny that it doesn't come out on that graph, do you think that travel/hotels is widely researched but then not bought online, or that the graph is incorrect. I'm interested, not being picky. I'm just working on a new affiliate site for travel so it's a genuine question.

Incidentally, I see that you're Down Under. We found a similar thing in Aus last year. We had seen more of Aus in a month's travel than virtually all of the Aussies we met! I only met one in Vic / NSW who had been to The Alice, for example. When questioned, they said a similar thing to the Americans, "it's all the same culture and same people so why bother?"

The graph is incorrect .. Travel and Hotels are extremely well researched .. dunno where but it is ... Travel/Hotel affiliates are one of the best ways a domainer can earn any real money from domain names without selling the domain ... Hotel and Travel related domain names even pay well on PPC thats why even non premium Travel/Hotel domain names can sell for good money .. see related thread:

Alice Springs .. even though i have been there i have no burning ambition to return there anytime soon .. nothing but bloody desert

Thanks for the link to the thread. We did love Alice and one of our travelling companions is till there; she got a job with the RFDS. Coober Pedy - now THAT was nowt but bloody desert!
