Is anyone actually doing anything about the new cookie laws threat which kicks in next month?

..this is the one where you have to ask a visitor's permission to use a cookie whenever they land on your site...or not use any cookies.

This effects things like Analytics and Adsense too.

The solutions I've seen so far are no solution and everyone seems to have their heads buried in the sand and are happy to break the law w.e.f. May 2012.

It's a joke. Technical problem: won't we need to ask if they want cookies stored on every page if they decline?? How will we know they have already said no without cookies?!

I don't think there's anyone who has ever run a website who doesn't agree it's a joke.

But has anyone actually done anything about it yet?

I've installed the Cookie Control WordPress plug-in for a trial period on an unimportant site called www.revisiontips.com and will report back in a couple of weeks what I have learned from this.

With regards to the new cookie law, where do affilliates stand.

If im promoting 3rd party products on my site and clearly state that these items are from (the source), and cookies are only stored on the users computer when the link to the 3rd party is clicked, who is the one that needs to make the users aware of the cookies. Me or the 3rd party?

Thanks
