Greetings, everyone!

What are your set-in-stone business plans for 2025? And perhaps your dreams?

Here’s what I have in mind:

DNF
- Two new free tools are in progress (currently in the research and planning stages).
- Taking interviews to a higher level
- Launching a new informational resource on a subdomain.
- Publishing Media Partnership offer for events
- Adding new moderators.

Acorn
- Once the beta version of one of the tools (mentioned above) is completed, I plan to reconfigure it exclusively for the UK space and launch it on Acorn.
- Publishing Media Partnership offer for events. We will include a request for an exhibitor table, which will allow advertising Acorn Domains at the events we will help promote.
- Also, finding new moderators.

HostMaria
- Time to get working on our first registrar accreditations (the process was set aside when was working on Domain Summit's initial success), starting with Nominet, Nic.lv, Kenic, and then moving on to Afnic, Denic and DNS Belgium.

Domain Summit
- September 2–3: Hosting a 500+ attendee event in London, which will make it the largest independent B2B domain name industry event in Europe.

50/50 Plans
- Hosting a Domain Summit in Chicago in 2025. There are many moving parts to this, so it will only happen if there’s strong support from the industry.
- Possible business partnership (in progress) - 2nd part of the year

Dreams
- Securing ICANN accreditation for HostMaria.

What about your plans and dreams for 2025 - care to share?

The Chicago domain summit idea

Is this to promote UK domains to US domain investors or something along those lines?

I’m intrigued by this, would love to hear more

Hi Craig, the aim of the Domain Summit already for a couple of years is to have 3-4 major regional domain name events. In the beginning organised by me, then, later with local partners.

Chicago is not to promote UK space :) States are the biggest market in the world.

Further, I want to establish Domain Summit as an event where +- 90% of the speakers are locals, only. .. saw this issue in Dubai > as amazing event it was (both quality and insane networking opportunities) > many speakers were the well known faces to all.

I’ve found that keeping an eye on multiple on invested capital gives me a quick gut check on whether a deal is actually pulling its weight. It’s especially handy when I’m comparing slow burners to fast growers in a portfolio. Using it alongside IRR usually gives me a clearer picture of what’s really working.

I appreciate you sharing your 2025 roadmap, Helmuts. The Domain Summit in London sounds ambitious and exciting. The registrar accreditation plan for HostMaria is a smart long-term play.

Malta is an overcrowded polluted corrupt dump that had days of powercuts over the whole island, whilst having 42C heat, because the population has increased by 30% in only a few years.
Retirement is coming hopefully next year :) It won't be here.

30% increase? .. hmm.. this must have an effect on real estate prices. Always wanted to visit Malta - haven't been there.. yet :) .. after having UAE experience (stuck when Israelis and Americans decided to hit Iran) - not a fan of an idea visiting Cyprus (too close to Turkey).. are there many IT conferences happening in Malta? .. I like the idea of having Domain Summit Europe 1 day there.. probably early March when it is still cold-ish in Europe

No not much. The demographic of the island is changing rapidly and I don't think IT is foremost for the future. You are right about real estate prices, they are ridiculous. The problem is to sustain the 'economic growth' the government needs to bring in 16,000 more people every year which is about 3% population growth. But as they are corrupt they don't improve the infrastructure so health, public utilities, sanitation, etc are crumbling. In a few years IT will be the last thing this backward country will be interested in :p I wouldn't bother having a summit here.

wuhh.. and how does the healthcare system cope with this? .. there are tonnes of videos on youtube vloggers stating that Malta is one of the best places for Americans to retire - especially of a quality healthcare system
