I have 2K sitting in a web-hosting company.

Long story short: it's affiliate commission, but they won't pay out as cash.

Any fun / creative ideas on what to do with it?

Reseller hosting? Seems a bit saturated and hassle?

Register domains? And then re-sell them?

You could give it to me if you'd like ;) Buying domains and reselling is possibly the quickest and easiest route. You don't need to worry about long-term support which is part of any professional hosting package. I'd buy quality over quantity and reg 3+ years. Should recover at least your investment if done right, with a possible profit built in if you choose well.

We were in a similar situation years ago and ended up hosting Tor downloads for a while until we turned the machines over to a grid project with BOINC. Had a look and cant find the project we were involved in (was genetics based) but there are hundreds out there to choose from now.

I think I'd use it for hand registering domains (unless they have some sort of API you could plug into?) and then moving them over to Nominet and selling them or whatever.
