Hi,

I have been watching a domain for some time...it is in the redemption period. I thought it would have dropped by now??

Its a .net

Status: redemptionPeriod
Updated Date: 26-may-2013
Creation Date: 14-apr-2011
Expiration Date: 14-apr-2013

There are no fixed dates in .com/net/org land, it would depend on the registrar and IF there are no auction interest in the name and if there is any interest in the name it may not drop and simply be transferred to the new owner, or it will automatically be dropped and caught by the registrars partner (no one else would have a chance).

You'd be better finding who the registrars partner is i.e. snapnames, namejet, etc, and seeing what their drop procedure it, but it can be anywhere between 40 and 90 days depending who the registrar is.

yep, as Skinner points out. it's always been a case of familiarising yourself with a particular registration services standard practices when it comes to Gtlds dropping (or not).

I have the same question for a .co.uk:

Relevant dates:
Registered on: 07-Mar-1999
Expiry date: 07-Mar-2013
Last updated: 12-Mar-2013

Registration status:
Renewal required.
*** This registration has been SUSPENDED. ***

Still suspended, I thought it should have dropped last week. Registrar is 123-reg. I'm guessing many of you have had an eye on this one as well :) Can this also happen with .co.uks?

The one your looking at won't drop, it could be another townhall.co.uk which is only about a year overdue. So anytime in the next year or so ;)

Ok thanks Skinner, can you explain why this is? 123-Reg hanging on to it?

And you can usually request a "temporary drop-hold" at Nominet. They require a reason, but given the .co.uk is as you say less than two weeks out of it's normal drop. it could be just a temporary hold.

I currently have one domain in that status myself due to a problem with the renewal request
