At the high end I believe he just loads the one name in, therefore more chance of catching it. It's not just about increased odds either; it's about what the domain is worth.
For example: I recently booked blues.co.uk with him @ £500. No one is going to catch a name like that for you at £30, unless you get VERY lucky with a public catcher.
Thanks Rob - I certainly wouldn't consider myself anywhere near the best private catcher.
As for catching / bookings - I don't actually offer catching services and only take the odd booking now and again from a few people who ask nicely When I do take a booking, pricing is based on the priority rather than the actual domain. A domain like blues for example would be attempted on it's own and at full speed. I've got luckly before and caught idtheft (couk) at a £30 booking so certainly worth trying your luck with as many catchers as possible.
@ Dave, I didn't think that was a particularly good domain when I booked it with you, I just liked the name as it went with the 419 anti fraud stuff I do online, never had an idea that it might get the offers that I received for it
It was booked up at several places online and other catchers had it booked as well, so you must have a very good catching system to have got it before them, I've not done anything with the domain other than a very basic site for it just to get it online, but I don't have time for it now that I'm doing other stuff. Tried finding the names of people at end user companies to contact them via snail mail to try an sell it, but I'm just hitting a wall trying to find contact details, so I'm going to leave it as it is and just renew it every 2 years, it's PR 3 now.
