Whois info being indexed

I am sure i read somewhere a few months back that it was against nominet rules to have the whois database indexed.

I was researching a name this morning and spotted nic.uk in the results! Doing a quick search of "site:webwhois.nic.uk" brings up almost 5,000 whois pages.

I could be wrong about it being against nominet rules however, i was surprised to see all those pages indexed.

I'm not sure the whois database is being indexed, rather it's the search term, as the results are live.
