Would you ever sell a domain name twice?

Was curious whether anyone has ever sold a domain name twice.
Or, If you had the chance would you do so?

For example:
Lets say you sold a domain a couple of years ago for XXX
But now you notice the domain had expired a few months ago.
You have tried to contact the original buyer multiple times but had no response.
Would you reg. the domain again, for the chance of a possible re-sale to someone else? Or just forget about it?

Just to be clear!
I haven't, but it bugs the hell out of me :)

If the domain is free to reg, then why not? The original buyer is clearly not using it and if the domain has value, then why not make a profit on it again?

I once sold a domain and the buyer didn't want the site. He left it on my nameservers for 6 months and then dropped the domain.

I reg'd and sold it again for 3 x the price!

Re reg it!

If they dont want it and it has value why not? You have gone out of your way trying to contact them no avail.

Good luck

I don't think I'd actually contact the original buyer again if they'd renewed it once. If they've never renewed it, they may not have realised they had to, and so that's sensible after-care. Otherwise, I can't imagine any response that would be helpful.

I may be influenced by what the previous buyer had done with it - if they'd run a business with it but gone bump with a lot of unhappy customers I might be put off. Similarly, if the owner had trashed the domain with experimental SEO.

I guess these would all apply equally well if it was a domain anyone else dropped - but with a domain you've sold before, you have a little more inside information.

You also have information about how easy it was to sell. If the £xxx sale had been difficult, I wouldn't bother. If it had been the top bid in an auction with 3+ interested parties, I'd grab it as soon as I saw it was available!

If the domain expired a few months ago and has been sat there unregistered I would ask how likely another sale would be?

Yep, no guarantee it would sell again.
But from that point of view it has already earn't its keep.

I think your right, if they renewed it once then let it slip, that does make a big difference. I'd probably just do it.

I'd be just as happy if they came back to me and said they overlooked it, cheers, & re-regged it.
People take their eye off the ball for all sorts of reasons - Personal circumstances etc.
What bugs me is not knowing.

I'd hate to be holding the name, they come back & say their budgie had died or something. Wouldn't be comfortable at all.

I'll try a couple more times.
Unless I get a response, I think I'll let it go.

Thanks
Mike

This situation has never come up for me before but I see nothing wrong with re-registering it if it's there for the taking.

If the person who I'd originally sold it to came back to me saying they'd just forgotten to renew the domain then I'd probably hand it over...but it depends how much it was worth honestly.

Kind of... I sold grik.org for $1 by accident, and the buyer posted it on sale somewhere else for $7.5. I decided to buy it back, and I hope to sell it with a better price. Sedo has sold some pronounceable LLLL.org before for $xxx.
