In no particular order, my top 10 are:

Curb Your Enthusiasm
The Office
Extras
The Inbetweeners
Lost
Spooks
Hustle
Jonathan Creek
OFAH
Psychoville

No Order :D

Curb you enthusiasm
QI
Shooting stars
Question time
University challenge
Match of the day
The Wire
Real A&E
Pingu
8 out of 10 cats

Stargate SG-1
Stargate Atlantis
The Tudors
Rome
24
Lost
Auf Wiedersehen Pet
Lark Rise To Candleford (yes, I'm being serious!)

Firefly (warning: the series was cancelled so it ends abruptly - still brilliant, though. And the movie "Serenity" gives closure)
Farscape (you'll need to get "The Peacekeeper Wars" as well if you want to see how things work out, another victim of early cancellation but saved by TPW mini-series sequel)
Prison Break (early seasons were best, but I stuck with it all the way)
24
Spooks
The Big Bang Theory (brilliant, brilliant stuff if you don't mind your humour geeky - hint: they have resident science advisors working hand-in-hand with the scriptwriters)
Spaced
Coupling
WonderFalls (another cut-short-too-soon series but excellent)
Battlestar Galactica (the remake; start with the mini-series before the 4 seasons)
Black Books

Cant believe no one has mentioned The Simpsons !

Here are mine in no particular order :

The Office
Extras
The Inbetweeners
Gavin and Stacey
Peepshow
Shameless
The Real Hustle
Pulling
Fonejacker
Facejacker
Friends
Benidorm
Top Gear
On the Buses

All of the top of my head - probably lots more !

Wow, just flicking through the channels and came across this 'the brittas empire' who remembers that one, I use to love it :)

Edwin > I love The big bang theory, great characters, ashame they never find love, Sheldon is my Fav, the paintball episode was good :)

Domainseller > Peep show is class :)

@Edwin - If you like Firefly, I think you'll like Chuck, Adam Baldwin plays a very similar character in both. The plot lines are a bit daft, but the humour keeps it going.

Star Trek
Top Gear (this sundays was a must see)
Curb you enthusiasm
Peep Show
Lost
24
Rome
Battlestar Galactica
Caprica

also one I forgot was "Dirty Sexy Money", which similar to Edwin mentioning that "Firefly" got cancelled and ended abruptly - so did Dirty Sexy Money - SOOO frustrating !

anyone else see both series of this ? William Baldwin and Donald Sutherland both starred in it

Since you guys are talking about cancelled programmes, then FlashForward. Shame it was cancelled!

Does anyone else wish that Heroes had been cancelled after series 1!? Maybe it was the writers strike that spoiled the second series, but it has never quite got back to the standard of the first!

Plenty of other good shows already mentioned - Top Gear, Inbetweeners, Grand Designs, Mary Queen of Shops, QI

A few more programmes I would Sky Plus - Outnumbered, Shooting Stars, Location/Relocation

I can't believe more haven't said Dexter!

I'm going to see if I can get Scully from somewhere. I remember thinking it was really funny at the time but probably one of those you no longer think so.
Bit like the goodies. Anyone remember that or One summer?

Had a few oldies come to mind like Our friends in the north or boys from the blackstuff.
