Dexter S04 excellent! John Lithgow is v good!

You should, it's a great show, some fantastic characters.
I recognised him in the first episode, that character's a long way from Dick in 3rd Rock from the Sun (another of my faves)!
no particular order:
californication
breaking bad
white collar
leverage
dexter
entourage
weeds
the wire
hustle
burn notice
how i met your mother
the shield
the office (us)
gilmore girls (im straight i swear!)
prison break
i dont really watch films, but I love my TV shows. shows over here in the UK are poor compared to the US. Hustle is the exception which is excellent. If you like hustle check out white collar and leverage.
also shows im gonna check out next:
heroes
lost
sons of anarchy
mad men

Lots have been mentioned that I love, but one of my favourite series, that hasn't been mentioned yet is Frasier

Not seen that for a while, I love it how it's an American programme with a British girl who has a strong Bury accent

It's interesting to see some of the lists include literally NO US TV shows! Some of their programs definitely match/surpass the "best of British" so you're missing out if you're dismissing shows from the other side of the pond!
