The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will host its Advanced Workshop on Domain Name Dispute Resolution: Update on Precedent and Practice on 12-13 May 2026 at WIPO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

This in-person workshop is directly relevant to domain name professionals, trademark owners, registrars, ccTLD administrators, IP lawyers, brand protection teams and domain investors who follow UDRP practice and domain name dispute trends.

The workshop focuses on WIPO’s domain name dispute resolution services and the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP), the global administrative mechanism used for resolving cybersquatting disputes involving domain names.

The faculty includes experienced WIPO UDRP panelists, trademark counsel and senior WIPO staff. The programme combines presentations with practical breakout sessions and discussions between participants and instructors.

For the domain name community, this is a useful Geneva-based event to follow because UDRP practice continues to shape the relationship between domain investors, brand owners, registrars and dispute resolution providers.

WIPO reported that it has handled more than 80,000 domain name cases since the first UDRP case in 1999, helping brand owners recover more than 143,000 domain names. In 2025, WIPO also recorded its highest-ever domain dispute caseload, with more than 6,200 cases.

A recent LinkedIn post by Miguel Perez, Senior Counsel Brand Protection and Team Lead Domain Disputes at Abion, noted that he would be attending the workshop in Geneva on behalf of Abion, together with Jeanne Gonin and Dora Bernadett Kiss. He also invited people working in brand protection, trademarks, domain names and online enforcement to connect while in Geneva.
