If a premium .com (30,000 global exacts) domain is worth about $1,000

should i register the .org or .net, will i be able to resell it quickly?

thanks in advance

Depends on the name / niche - but mostly depends on where your $1000 valuation comes from.

Also - is it a trademark or generic?

Lots and lots of factors! But no guarantee that it's worth much at all. However, this is mainly a UK centred forum - you might get more advice on another non UK specific forum.

A .org of a .com that's worth $1000 doesn't mean the .org is worth anything like that of the .com, you have to treat them seperately.

the domain name is generic and i believe it is stable. It one of those things the people will never forget about.

Do you think i should at least register since it has the 30,000 exacts?

You have to question just how 'premium' the .com really is if it's only worth $1k ?

ok but if the .com is worth 1,000 i am asking if you think i should get .org or .net and see if i can get a few bucks. I only a beginner i have to start some where.

If I had to reg one I'd do the .org

for the price of the registration give it a go and suck it and see as the saying goes

In theory if the .com is worth $1k then the .net and .org would most likely be worth more than the reg fee, but as already said this all depends on where the $1k valuation is coming from?

ok well in this case i believe its coming from the keyword searches because the name is generic.

Unless you want to give the name away all you can really do is trust your own judgement and buy them.

If they are domains that could be resold quickly then chances are they'd already be registered.

IMO: It it's a good generic, the .net is worth about 10% of the .com. The .org about 2%; maybe a little more if the .net is taken as well as the .com. Having said that, .net domains do well for hosting and network infrastructure if they are good keywords.

So...? Did you reg it/them? If so - are you going to tell us what they are now? :)
