Depends on the name / niche - but mostly depends on where your $1000 valuation comes from.
Also - is it a trademark or generic?
Lots and lots of factors! But no guarantee that it's worth much at all. However, this is mainly a UK centred forum - you might get more advice on another non UK specific forum.
ok but if the .com is worth 1,000 i am asking if you think i should get .org or .net and see if i can get a few bucks. I only a beginner i have to start some where.
In theory if the .com is worth $1k then the .net and .org would most likely be worth more than the reg fee, but as already said this all depends on where the $1k valuation is coming from?

IMO: It it's a good generic, the .net is worth about 10% of the .com. The .org about 2%; maybe a little more if the .net is taken as well as the .com. Having said that, .net domains do well for hosting and network infrastructure if they are good keywords.
