1and1 have a control panel for deleting contracts and domain names from contracts here:

https://contract2.1and1.co.uk

I know somebody who only wanted to delete a domain name from his contract and accidentally deleted his entire contract, so be cafull in selecting what you really intend to delete.

Good luck

cancel.1and1.com or cancel.1and1.co.uk I think are the url's for cancelling domains & packages, moving the domain away is not enough as you would still re-billed.

I had a letter from a debt collection agency about a name I moved away a year before. I'd in fact go as far as sending a recorded letter to them informing them of the cancellation and ask for confirmation in writing.

Dreadful company.

Really?

I have just sign in witw them and alredy buy few of 4$ or so.. Please explain what is the problem with this agency?'

Best Regards Kruno

hi all
You can not log on to 1and1 to cancel your unwanted domain names there is a seperate site as stated above contract2.1and1.co.uk but you get timed out with error 500 notice or you just cant log in at all i have phoned 1&1 on a(0871 number not free on any call plan) only to be left waiting for a reply to cancel your names is allmost impossable thay say thay have isuses with the site this was the answer thay gave me 6 weeks ago and its the same answer weeks later
The name of the game is to renew your domain names no matter what.
I have 20+ unwanted that i had asked 1&1 not renew but on the whois thay have been renewed i have spoken nominet i can cancel them with nominets control panel but 1&1 may still charge THIS HAS HAPPEND BEFORE.

Ian.

we should have a "sticky" about 1and1 ,cancellation procedures and such...

how many get lured into there venus flytrap

Someone should write to watchdog, very easy to submit your story on their website. If 4 or 5 of you who have problems with them do it, I'm sure watchdog would be all over it

1&1

Im probably falling further and further into the trap.

I have about 200 domains with 1&1.

40 of them i'd want to renew.. but 160 of them are errors of being a total novice.

I agree completely that trying to cancel these domains... is VERY difficult as they purposefully use a seperate hosting for their cancellations page that just times out. You CAN do it.. if your patient.

But with 160 domains I want cancelling... god that is gunna require a LOT of patience.

I used them because they were cheap, and starting out cheap is good but I would honestly recommend paying the extra few quid and using a better provider.

Im now stuck in the net.. of using them simply because i have so many domains with them.

Any advice on a way of moving away?

Steps to cancelling domains with 1and1.co.uk

Step 1 : Go to https://contract.oneandone.co.uk/
Step 2 : Choose the account you want to cancel
Step 3 : Cancel entire contract (or the domains you don't want)
Step 4 : Click on the cancel contract(will be sent to your email )
Step 5 : Make sure that contract has been marked as cancelled

MAKE SURE ALL THE CONTRACTS ARE CANCELLED !
