99 or 100

Over the last few days there have been several domains that have dropped on day 100 instead of day 99.

I have two questions please feel free to answer one or both.

1. Is it possible to predict when this will happen? I'm just looking for a yes/no answer I'm not asking how if this is a closely guarded secret like the 99/92 day rule.

2. Now I'm asking how, if the answer to 1 was yes.

I've not noticed this before but has happened several times over the last week or so, is it just that nominet have got their sums wrong and there a re a few left over or is there some other explanation.

ive noticed this also. I do hope though that nominet change the rules so domains can drop anytime in a period of say 5 days rather 1 day as thould be interesting.

Great so give auto-catchers more freedom leaving manual-catchers 5 days of no sleeping with matchsticks in their eyes, let's hope not eh?

No, not with having to be up 5 days running, it may make current catchers a bit more money though from manual catchers who need sleep after 72 hours.

Just a thought - have those 100 day ones dropped shortly after midnight? if so may be something to do with clocks changing in the USA early this year out of line with Europe.

Nope, not the recent ones, I've seen it in past where they were 20 mins or so after midnight (I just put that down to a Nominet miscalculation) but some of last weeks have been quite late the next day.
