I have noticed in the error logs on a server that someone has attempted on several occasions to access /_vti_bin/owssvr.dll but that file does not exist.

Is that someone trying to hack do ya reckon ?.

Somthing to do with Frontpage.. just some Microsoft garabage, probs harmless.

wow that was neat :p

Some new feature in VB Admin? When I post a link it fetches the page title of the link and uses that as the anchor text. Kewl!

Thanks but my hosting is Linux . As well when they try to get that file it shows 404 file does not exist.

Thanks, but what I cant understand is *why* someone would set there browser to look for that file particularly, i.e. type in www.xyz.om/owssvr.dll into there browser to seek that file ?.Sorry if im being slow but I read this;
owssvr.dll & cltreq.asp - PowWeb Community Forums

Did you not read what I posted?

This file is part of Microsoft Office Server Extensions (OSE) and your host has installed them on your server. This file gets accessed when someone visiting your site has Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer installed and has enabled the "Discuss" toolbar in his/her browser. When the toolbar is enabled, the browser will automatically query the file when visiting your site to determine if the OSE extensions are installed.
