Here's the puzzle: aside from London, does any UK city score higher on GKT (exact match) than Blackpool does?

I've tried a whole bunch of places and so far Blackpool's tops, but you never know...

Glasgow and Edinburgh seem to score the same as Blackpool

But Liverpool beats them all by a mile.

I did try Salford first but nope

But globally Oxford, Cambridge and Manchester give it a sound thrashing.

I guess not too many American tourists plan on adding Blackpool to their grand tour of Europe.

In terms of global exacts, places like Newcastle, Birmingham, Brighton and Windsor are higher.

When you take into account the Premier League effect, football geos such as Chelsea [165,000], West Ham [165,000] and Arsenal [823,000] get massive searches.

I'm guessing that Blackpool has benefited from the Premier League effect also, as the exact match has rocketed since they were promoted - it's reading 33,100 in December 2009 increasing to 110,000 October 2010, although seasonal tourism is also likely to play a part.

Interestingly - if you look at the exact match for a Premier League team reference that isn't a geo, eg [Wolves] it gets roughly the difference between the 2009 and 2010 Blackpool figures - 60,500.

Correct, they're not going anywhere. Why would they? And if I ever did sell, they sell themselves instantly - starting a thread about GKT does absolutely nothing to affect their saleability.

I just did a bit of digging then figured there's enough interest in the geo space that others probably have a lot of the answers already. A lot of intriguing info came out of this thread, and I really appreciate all the input!
