Finally getting to the point where I need to produce more detailed accounts, invoices, and even close to having to register for VAT! Anybody recomment some easy to use and cheap accounting software?

Thanks
Stephen.

Hi Stephen,

You might be in luck - I am also having major problems looking after invoices, accounts and that sort of thing.

A have a couple of guys that do a bit of work for me and one has just in the process of building mine.

I can let you have a sneak peek, to see if it is the sort of the thing your looking for.

Its all server based - so you can access anywhere.

Pm me if you interested.

Cheers Whois-Search, I did think about Sage but wanted a more server based application so everything is pretty much safe incase my laptop gets a virus.

Sage do a web based version which is accessable from anywhere, create invoices automaticly if your using a payment processor etc.

Costs around £4k IIRC

Ahh didnt know that, Still far to much money for me! but this system I am having built will do much more than just keep your accounts in order.

Dont really want to give my ideas away ;)

for the sort of business we are in i find can be much cheaper, and less hassle to pay an accountant to do all the work... you just drop off a bundle of paper and ... as if my magic... :)

Quick Books would get our vote, but we have only used that and previously Dosh.

stick a database application onto the server or even excel will do the job.... A bit of coding etc and u have a system up and running....

Sage or Quick Books seem to be the market leaders. I've seen Sage and it seems easy to use and produce VAT returns.

Ive used various sage , Mckeown, appletree packages.... IMO I wouldnt touch them unless volume of invoices exceeds 1 - 2 per hour
