I've used channels for a while but something strange happened recently where I was getting ads on a site that were relevant to another site of mine.

If I set up 3 channels for 3 different adsense units (say 'left', 'right' and 'top'), is it ok, and/or effective, to use the same three pieces of code across different websites?

Or should each custom channel be used on one website?

There is nothing "wrong" about using the same code on different sites, but (according to GolddiggerGuy) you get improved revenue if you use channels with good keyword names and long channel descriptions with keywords in them.

I tried applying this last month, and it appeared to be working until something else got messed up and I was displaying public service ads!

Channel Keywords help select where ads are placed ...

I use channels to indicate ads placed on particular types of site - for example, I have a group of London holiday sites which use ads on one channel, and a group of electronics sites which use ads on another channel. Then I have the odd channel or two for those one-off sites that do not fall into a group.

Whatever channel you use, the ads are supposed to "sense the text" and show appropriate ads, but using the Adsense tags to show what text to key from helps a lot.
