I've just heard an item on Radio 4 - apparently Adsense is putting RSPCA adverts onto Scottish sites. The SSPCA is getting upset because the RSPCA is getting donations from Scots, and the RSPCA only operates in England and Wales!

Not much you could do about that one ... or is there something?

Thanks - I have sent a message to the SSPCA fundraising dept - they have to do the asking.

Apparently, part of the problem is that the RSPCA are supposed to refer Scots donations back to the SSPCA, but they've been taking the money in a lot of cases.

Give SYSTREG some kudos, folks!

An official Thank You:

Many thanks for your email. I shall pass this information on to the
relevant people to see if they can look into this solution.

As you will be aware we receive no government or lottery funding and we
rely on members of the public like you to allow us to rescue and rehome
thousands of animals in Scotland each year. We fully understand that
everyone should be able to donate to whatever charity they want but we
want to ensure that they know where their money is being spent.

We are really hoping that our campaign will bring about a change in
RSPCA policy.

Thanks again for your support.

Kind regards,
Michelle

As far as I know google sees the UK as the UK, how exactly are they meant to know if a website is Scottish when it's running on a .uk domain and hosted on a server in London?
