adult auction

I think Sedo have seriously lost the plot with this one.

When you look at the names they're running with for the auction versus the names they rejected that we know of (never mind what we haven't heard about) it makes you wonder whether the people running the auction know anything about domain names at all.

From my own dealings with Sedo I've found them to be very inflexible when it comes to anything that doesn't slip neatly into an existing box, but I think that the poor quality of the majority of these domains is purely either a case of lack of any sort of domaining expertise or of "jobs for the boys", both of which are a bit worrying when they're supposed to be the leader in selling European domains.

Having run the figures on them, my favorite premium adult name so far is BikeSluts.com - it's not registered in any other extension and gets a total global search volume of, wait for it, 110 searches a month.... in the entire world. Truly a premium gem of a name. Kinda begs the question why a name like Grant's cumshots.co.uk (every extension gone, exact UK match of over 22k) was rejected on "Quality" grounds.

Nice.

Do you think that maybe Mr/Ms BikeSluts knows someone at Sedo??? :rolleyes:

I totally missed the boat there, I have approx 1,600 adult domains covering all areas, random ones like....

* Candy.tv
* Bared.com
* Adultsextube.com
* Bigmums.com
* DirtyMoney.com
* Babepay.com
* CialisTablets.com
* FreshCreamPie.com
* WhosTheDaddy.com
* FannyMunchers.com
* FilthyContent.com
* MuffDaddy.com
* PornPixels.com
* FeelMyself.com
* PornCurry.com
* Vagtastical.com
* TextGirls.com
* TextBabes.com
* FllirtDivert.com
* Nonudes.co.uk
* Fisted.co.uk
* Hymen.co.uk
* Slutz.co.uk
* BustyBabes.co.uk
* SheHe.co.uk
+ loads loads more...

By the sounds of it Sedo are rejecting alot of alright names so i doubt many would have got though....

I must say I'm shocked with some of the names that have been accepted as I've seen better ones on here which were rejected, madness if you ask me.

heyhoo!

got one in... and probably one of the worst on my list! Rejected hardcorefilms on (Q) but hardcoremovies from another user was accepted. Go figure!

Some good names in the auction for sure, but I agree some of the names mentioned that were rejected are surely better than xxx with the word new in front of it?

My favourite I think is treffs.eu searched in google it seems a tyre company in Canada or a grill in Texas, can anyone enlighten me as to the adult nature of that word?

Result of WHOIS query:

No match for "treffs.co.uk".

This domain name has not been registered

Someone grab it quick and enter into next Sedo auction

Seems to be German for "meeting places"

treffs

.

Ah ok,

Thanks for that scooter, I see how it made the cut now :neutral:

I managed to get sexcams in in the end, gave up submitting after that as was getting depressed with the (Q) of my domains :(

Grant

looking at the list I've had to look a few up to try and understand adult nature:
chochos? whats a chochos (apologies if i've offended anyone? ;) )

fetishclubs.co.uk

Chaps

This recent catch was accepted but not the other one I caught on the same day rubberfetish co uk - seems quite bizzare the criteria used to accept the names !

Cheers

Couldn't agree more...

We don't really have any adult names in our stock - with the exception of premiumporn / co.uk - it's not the greatest, better than some in the auction, but rejected by Sedo.

I think the reserve prices Sedo are putting on some of the names also shows that they may have lost the plot on this one...

There may well be some red faces at Sedo when they compare their projected auction totals with the sum of all sales that actually reach the reserve and get sold at the end of the day.

I've got a bid in but its not yet reached the reserve. It would be better if the reserve what the starting price to save messing people around

Less than an hour left now......

Had an email from Sedo promoting their next co.uk only auction.....

"...Do you have a premium .co.uk keyword domain you’d like to offer for sale? Submit your domains now for inclusion in Sedo’s upcoming campaign for keyword .co.uk domains. Qualifying domains will be included on a dedicated homepage, sedo.co.uk/keyworddomains which will be proactively promoted to end users. ..."

I wonder how well the selection criteria is going to work for that one?

"...then please submit a maximum of 5 domains...." WHY???

The fact that email from title was "test" and was sent from [email protected] does not instill me with a great deal of confidence?

It's going to be interesting to see if they publish the results or quietly let the auction wither and die, from a PR perspective. Presumably if they'd sold millions worth of names, they'd have put out a press release, adult or no. But given the ridiculously low takeup, I don't see that happening.

Related aside: who in their right mind would put a reserve of over $55,000 on Sex.asia? As an extension, it's deader than a dead parrot...

Related aside #2: assuming nothing changes in the last 4 minutes, the £1,500 top bid for porno.co.uk backs up the discussion a while back about that being almost exclusively a US term...

By limiting the new campaign to domains parked at Sedo, they're losing a huge chunk of the audience. But there you go...

I bidded, and won several. All at £xxx

But some had reserves of £xx,xxx

Why let us waste time bidding in the first place?

I didn't ACTUALLY win any after all, as none reached the reserve price... Waste of time!
