Advice on first time Domain sale at auction.

I was just about to get the ball rolling with my very first domain sale at auction when it struck me that although the domain itself is around 9 years old it was transferred to my Registrar (Namecheap) around 28 days ago. I'm assuming that unless the potential buyer is also registered with the same Registrar as me then I would not be able to transfer out the domain until after 60 days.

My question is, if you were a buyer of my domain at auction and subsequently discovered that in order to get the domain you had to register with another registrar (Assuming they were not with Namecheap) to get the domain, then would you be seriously miffed or is this something that buyers expect in some cases when buying domains?

I don't want to get a bad rep at the auction site on my first sale by pi$$ing off a buyer and have them complaining to the auction site, so I'm trying to ensure I do everything correctly.

Would really appreciate some guidance on this. Thanks.

You should be able to request Namecheap to change it to the new Registrar. Failing that, cant you change the registrars name when you transfer the domain (assuming its via Nominet)? Never been asked to do this personally but can't think why its not possible, perhaps someone else can confirm one way or the other.

Is it a .uk extension? If so, the 60 day rule doesn't apply.

If it's .com etc. then yep they'll have to sign up at namecheap. It's an expected hassle for people that understand it. For those that don't, there's no way around it so I guess most people wont mind once you've explained.
