Hi

Complete newbie to all of this, so looking for some advice.

I registered a uk.com domain a few years back, which is definatley a brand.

Up there with the leagues of microsoft.uk.com ( obviously not that one).

Anyway it sat there for a few years registered and showing the registrars page. Recently i decided to forward to my ownsite to see if there was any traffic.

Suprisingly it showing between 400 - 800 direct visitors per day. Stats from google analytics show around 200 visitors per day, but raw logs show much more.

There has never been any attempt from the brandowner to claim the domain.

What can i do with it.

Hope you dont mind but dont want to publish the exact domain. just looking for some advise.

Thanks

Personally I would do nothing with it and when it comes up for renewal I would let it lapse.

Lost me with the subdomain. bit sorry as i said i am a newbie.

Pity to waste all that traffic.

UK.com is the domain, they then sell sub domains ie. word.uk.com etc.

Pity to waste all that traffic.
Many large companies go out of there way to protect their brand, and don't look kindly upon bad registrations like this.

It may seem like a good idea to use the traffic but it could cost you a lot in the long term.

If it was me then i would contact the registrar and ask them if they can delete it.

Thanks for the advice.

Looks like I lucked out with this one.

will Leave it to expire.

I know it's probably obvious, but whatever you decide to do with it, don't offer it for sale.

Like i said, although a newbie, reading between the lines, I can now see that this would not be a good idea.

Thanks for the advice,

I may just do the right thing and forward it to top domain holder.

I would either cancel it now or do nothing with it and let it expire.

I would advise against registering domains with other people's trademarks. It is better to build up a domaining income via generic domains.

Rgds
