and i thought i was the only one who followed it this year . . . i probably am in the UK :(

i watched the press conference he wasnt happy

nothing from this americas cup has been of benefit to the sport. . . you thought they might have learnt something from the 1988 challenge but it seems not and the rules not changed enough to stop this happening. I like the fact the boats are fast and cutting edge, not sure on multihulls

they have to do something to pull the sport back to the dennis conners years when the event was the THIRD biggest sporting event in the WORLD worth something like $5bn, this one i guess wouldnt even have been a 10th

each team spent over $125M - you cant do that on a lottery win!!

I'm sure he was, didn't get the chance to see it.

It wouldn't be the Americas Cup without the controversy.

Seemed low key this time around. Not having a challenger series was probably what did it (that alone can last two months).

Hopefully the next one will be with monohulls, with a few more challengers.

i think the main thing is the boat design and getting a rule that still allows them to push the limits

I know everyone else here isnt really interested and i'll openly admit this isnt a spectator sport but check this vid out, this is sailing

YouTube - Quantum TP52

would like to know if any, who hasnt sailed thinks this looks fun??
the point at the begining where the boat levels out and accelerates . . hard

I can only descibe that being on that boat must be like trying to stand up in a ferrari soft top whilst it accelerates at full chat! :)

Nice.

I think their would be more interest in the UK if the British won it. When we did everyone new.

I was lucky enough to see them all in Auckland in 2003 (i think it was). Beats F1 for class anyday - the guys were all approachable, friendly and up for a chat and I got really close to the boats - all for free.
