Can someone on this forum not employ you to do some freelance work?. Your mostly doing it for experience and because your enthusiastic and the person getting the work would be getting it for peanuts in comparison to going rates.

Cheers, just wanted to be sure. But on the normal WhoIs if you go to page source you can't actually see the registrant etc.

Please say this isn't the case with WhoIs2 :neutral:

You need to be connecting over a socket rather than trying to scrape the data from the page.

Heh I highly doubt drop.co.uk, domainview.co.uk etc would appreciate us automating this unfortunately. I can and have however automated checking domainmonster, have my own desktop software I wrote for it, no complaints yet from them.

Cheers Nominet for only allowing 5 queries a second for some strange reason even though we're using whois2 (not whois).

Yep it is confusing but on http://registrars.nominet.org.uk/registration-and-domain-management/acceptable-use-policy#whois2

"For the clients accessing the gateway service the limits are given in the WHOIS acceptable use policy."

Yep, that includes the 1000 queries per 24 hours too, oh and you're not allowed to use it yourself either once you've built it

Can see why you have a limit of 50 now. Anything more would mean the user waiting for ages.
