Anyone else's broadband slow today?

Must admit Virgin are pretty good, although their support is shocking now it's gone to India. Any problem and bang an engineer is coming out in 4 days time, anything to get you off the phone.

Not sure why BT never went for a full roll out of fibre optics? wonder what they are expecting to change in the future. There was talk of instantband a little while ago in Korea which is the next one up from fibreoptics?

Nightmare but normal for me:

Or more locally, Hemel Hempstead isn't too bad.

Up until a few days ago I was sub 1Mb but this new O2 broadband rocks so far and is half the price I was paying Nildram for their slow as treacle offering.

It's a long way to come to get it, but there's pretty good connectivity in Tokyo :)

So - I'm still on my dial-up -

That's about as fast as dial-up gets, even if you change provider -

WTH you get used to it - but it shows you how people with a dial-up can get fed up of waiting for those flashy sites to load ...

Give me a shout if you want something better. I would put a pound on I can get you up to at least 1Mbps.
I get 1.5Mbps down and 480Kbps up on a line which BT say can only support 512Kbps down 256Kbps up. The advantages of running a proper network :D

Could do with improving TalkTalk as it's meant to be a lot quicker :( any ideas?

Well my speed is still showing well but some pages are eratic in loading times, very hit and miss and some not resolving at all.

Looks like I spoke too soon about Virgin,

My talktalk connection is pretty consistent - Perhaps not quite what I was promised at sign up, but not too shabby. They do throttle the old P2P though -

"Well Sir, I'm pleased to tell you on switchover day I can quite honestly promise you the earth. Indeed Sir. Now, lets start with your bank details."

My biggest gripe with talktalk is their customer service 'line'.

10am:

'Click'

Delay...

'Good Evening Mr. Steve, How can I Help you...'

Arrggh.....

That was kind of the thing last time I rang it..

Two yoghurt pots on a very long piece of string would be more useful.
