Developed a system (not for sale) I've been tuning to predict both teams to score or goals galore bets (popular football bet these days) and will be blogging my tips here: Goals Betting

Had a good run last year and ended the season with a nice chunk of change.

Just about to get started for this season as was waiting on enough games to load up the data.

Feel free to follow and/or join in.

Cheers!

Interesting system, how do you decide what to bet though?

For example tonights game of Torquay v Barnet?

the blog so far is just explaining the raw stats - picks will be posted later today.

to answer your question, before all the numbers are crunched, it looks like Torquay vs Barnet has just a 38% chance of having both sides score. This is based on their performance in their last 4 matches.

Both sides scoring bets are better accumulated in minimum bunches of 4.

The system also does a more complicated analysis and ranks the fixtures based on the last 3 home and away games and considers whether they are playing home or away and the goals scored + conceded counts to determine a rank.

Cool, I'll be following to see how it gets on :)

Interesting it's 38%, Betfair odds for both teams to score ATM are:

Yes: 1.67
No: 2.18

So a pretty good price for no based on 38%

I have the odd dabble on HT-FT both ways, so knowing games were there is likely to be goals is useful, knock out games are best for these bets IE champions league and cups.

stats are up with the this weekends fixture and the likelyhood both teams will score.

if you use the affiliate link on the blog, you can get an absolutely free 10 bet at skybet.
this is different to those other free bets that require you to deposit an initial amount.

i'll be posting up my picks from the alternate more detailed system too so folks will have a choice. personally I prefer the simple stuff :)

best of luck!

I must be honest, I didn't read this entire thread, I got as far as the OP saying "Developed a system (not for sale)" before I pished myself laughing... No offence :)

lol - i'll add natural born comedian to the list of inventions then ;)

i won't go into details but if you are ever seriously bored and get round to reading the rest, its pretty simple really. looking at recent form and seasons form around a particular type of bet (both sides scoring). did they or didn't they? and then calculating the % likelyhood it happens again.

i'm off to do my next standup show :)

Some reasonable logic you're employing. The proof of the pudding of course will be results in the long-run.

We have some pretty shrewd football gamblers on a forum I run at http://forum.liveoddsandscores.com/ so feel free to post your musings there if you want them held up to scrutiny.

Cheers,

Ed

No probs.

I should say that Acorn is the best forum though. Suck suck.

Sounds interesting. I've bet on overs/unders a few times in the past, so am not averse to the occasional flutter. I might include some bigger odds ones on my outsider site, once it's up and running.
